This research presents the study on the effects of an electric tram energy transfer system on the power grid during peak demand periods of electric trams used in Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. The objective is to compare the electrical energy during peak demand periods with the energy transfer from electric trams into the grid during peak demand periods and to get a database to develop and increase efficiency during the time of transferring energy from the electric tram used in Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University to the electricity network during peak demand.
This research, a 3-phase Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) energy transfer system for a Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University electric tram, with a power capacity of 1.2 kW per phase, was capable of supplying an average of 2,268 W of electricity to the grid. This system helped compensate for power grid consumption during peak load periods at Building 19 of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, accounting for an average of 2.01%. Regarding the impact on power quality, the results showed an average electrical frequency of 49.98 Hz, an average power factor of 0.826, and an average total harmonic distortion (THD) of 1.303%. All of these power quality indices met the standard criteria, indicating that the system can safely transfer electrical energy to the grid.
