The purposes of the research included the following: 1) To study the level of public participation, reinforcing/supporting factors and the administrative officials’ success in preventing drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province, 2) To investigate the influences of the public participation and reinforcing/ supporting factors on the administrative officials’ success in preventing drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province. Obtained through the stratified sampling method, the sample group consisted of 220 administrative officials who reported to Mueang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province. A questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. The statistics employed for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and multiple regression analysis.
The research revealed these results:
1. The overall public participation in preventing and solving drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province was at a moderate level (x̄ = 3.49). However, the reinforcing/supporting factors in working to prevent drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bung Kan Province, as a whole, were at a high level (x̄ = 3.81). At the same time, the administrative officials’ success in preventing drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province, as a whole, was also at a high level (x̄ = 3.67).
2. In light of public participation, these aspects significantly influenced on the success in preventing drug problems at .01 statistical level: evaluation (β=.363) and receiving the benefits (β=.348). Meanwhile, the operation significantly influenced on the success in preventing drug problems at .05 statistical level. Except for taking part in making the decision, these aspects could be jointly used to accurately predict the level of the administrative officials’ success in preventing drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province, at 39.80 percent. (R2Adj=.398).
In terms of the reinforcing/supporting factors, these aspects significantly influenced on the success in preventing drug problems at .01 statistical level: suppression and law enforcement (β=.384), government’s budget support (β=.292), addiction therapy/ treatment (β=.261), and alertness/awareness and consciousness creation (β=.258). At the same time, using the social media to prevent drug problems (β=.202) significantly influenced on the success in preventing drug problems at .05 statistical level.Except for installing and enhancing knowledge in the children and the youth, preventing drug addiction for the labor group, organizing creative activities and developing the quality of life, drug prevention at the family level, village and community strength, establishing societal order, and creating social power to overcome drug addiction, these aspects could be used jointly for the correct prediction of the level of the administrative officials’ success in preventing drug problems in Muang Bueng Kan District, Bueng Kan Province, at 63.90 percent. (R2=.639).
